The countdown to the State of Qatar's hosting of the 2026 World Padel Championship, scheduled to be held from November 2 to 7, has begun, as the eyes of racquet sports fans are turning to the capital, Doha, which is preparing to present an exceptional new edition that consolidates its position as the global capital of sports.
The upcoming tournament will be held at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, with the participation of 32 national teams (16 men's and 16 women's teams) that include a group of the game's most prominent stars, top ranked and top seeders worldwide, amid expectations of a large crowd attendance and unprecedented media follow-up.
Mr. Tariq Zainal, Secretary General of the Qatar Tennis, Squash, Padel and Badminton Federation, stressed that Doha's hosting of this major global event reflects the firm international confidence and the prestigious position that the State of Qatar has taken on the global sports map.
"The start of the countdown to the start of the World Padel Championship puts us in front of a renewed responsibility to provide an unprecedented organizational experience worthy of the reputation of Qatari sports," Zainal said in a statement to Qatar News Agency Qena. He pointed out that the decision of the International Padel Federation to grant the State of Qatar the right to host the two editions (2026 and 2028) came as a certificate of international trust that we are proud of, and a clear confirmation of Doha's world-class infrastructure and facilities, foremost of which is the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, in addition to the national cadres who have gained tremendous cumulative experience by organizing major sporting events.
"At QFA, we are working alongside the International Federation and all national and international partners and sponsors to ensure an optimal competitive environment for 32 elite men's and women's teams," added Zainal.
The Secretary General of the Qatar Football Federation concluded his statement by saying: "Our stadiums and facilities are fully prepared to receive the world champions and the passionate fans who will flock to Doha, and we promise everyone an exceptional edition that will remain engraved in the memory of fans of this fastest-growing sport in the world."
The Qatar 2026 edition is of special historical significance, as the International Padel Federation announced the allocation of record and historic prize money of up to one million and two hundred million euros, which will be distributed equally among the men's and women's categories, as an embodiment of the Federation's commitment to developing the game and promoting gender equality in sports.
On the organizational level, the awarding of the tournament to the State of Qatar for the 2026 and 2028 editions comes as a new achievement for the Qatar Olympic Committee and the Qatar Padel Federation, and with the completion of these two editions, the State of Qatar will be equal to Spain as the host country of the Padel World Cup with 4 editions each, after Doha was previously distinguished in organizing the 2021 and 2024 editions.
As part of the ongoing preparations and logistics, the International Football Federation (FIFA), in cooperation with the local organising committee, announced the signing of a strategic partnership agreement with the famous brand "Bull padel", to be the official sponsor and authorized supplier of sports equipment and official ball for the tournament during the next two editions in Doha, ensuring that the highest technical standards are provided to the players on the field.
The organizing committee of the tournament announced the start of the operational phase to prepare the stadiums and facilities and equip the accompanying media centers, in addition to developing executive plans to offer tickets for the matches through the official website and approved sales outlets, to enable local and expatriate fans to reserve their seats early to keep pace with this major sporting event.
It is worth mentioning that Doha has previously hosted the World Padel Championships twice in 2021 and 2024, and they witnessed great organizational and fan success at the Khalifa International Complex.
