Strong northwesterly winds are expected to pick up and the temperature to go down in Qatar from Wednesday, announced the Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD).

The cold spell, which begins today, will last until Friday, the entity said in an update.

People should expect blowing dust at times, along with a further dip in temperature and a heightened sense of cold, especially in Qatar’s southern and outer regions.

“Relatively cold weather with slight dust to blowing dust in some areas during the day, with moderate to fresh Northwesterly winds that reach strong during the daytime hours. We recall that there is a marine warning for today,” the QMD said in a tweet on Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, the lowest recorded temperature in Qatar on Wednesday was 16.7°C, at the Turayna farm, while it was 19°C in Doha.

While Bard Al Azariq, the coldest days of the year, came and went in January, the climate has not gotten much hotter since then.

With winter in Qatar set to be over soon, one should try and make the most of it. One way to do that is by visiting some great outdoor dining destinations, which we have compiled for you here.

If you are a soup aficionado, then there is no better time to try it than during winter. Have you tried these soups in Qatar yet?

If outdoor fun activities with the entire family is your cup of tea, then you can consider making use of these excellent daily offers from the Lusail Winter Wonderland.

Management of Al Maha Island, where the Lusail Winter Wonderland is located, had recently decided to make parking free for visitors to their various facilities and restaurants.

If you prefer long, solitary walks along Qatar’s scenic routes, here is a selection of them, all in one place.
