Qatar Fund for Development Strengthens Qatar-France Humanitarian and Development Cooperation

HE Sheikh Thani bin Hamad Al-Thani, Chairperson of the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), concluded a high-level visit to the French capital, Paris, aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the State of Qatar and the French Republic and consolidating cooperation in international development and humanitarian assistance.

QFFD said in a statement that, building on the longstanding relations between the State of Qatar and the French Republic, the visit provided an opportunity to strengthen bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest, intensify coordination on humanitarian and development priorities, and explore new avenues for developing international partnerships in support of the two countries’ shared objectives.

As part of the visit, HE Sheikh Thani bin Hamad Al-Thani co-chaired a high-level meeting with HE Éléonore Caroit, Minister Delegate for Francophonie, International Partnerships and French Nationals Abroad, attached to the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic. Representatives of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), Expertise France and the Crisis and Support Centre of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs participated in the meeting.

The meeting addressed ways to strengthen institutional coordination, develop areas of joint cooperation, and mobilise resources and capabilities to support humanitarian efforts and achieve shared development priorities.

During the visit, QFFD signed two memoranda of understanding with Expertise France and the Crisis and Support Centre of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, aimed at strengthening cooperation in humanitarian action and international development, developing joint initiatives and building institutional capacity. The agreements will help enhance coordination in responding to humanitarian crises, support relief efforts and contribute to sustainable development.

The visit represents a step towards consolidating Qatar-France relations and translating shared priorities into practical areas of cooperation, strengthening international partnerships and supporting efforts to address humanitarian and development challenges.

Through its cooperation with governments and international institutions, QFFD continues its efforts to support humanitarian action, strengthen community resilience and contribute to sustainable and inclusive development.
