Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi recently addressed Qatar leading the global role through external development in areas like education, health, and economic empowerment.

Keeping the Qatar National Vision 2030 in mind, HE Al Nuaimi stressed on the fact that Qatar is one of the leading countries that are in the process of transforming its education sector digitally. With recent developments during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was noted that Qatar adjusted to digital reforms in record time globally.

Giving credit to the wise leadership attached to the sector, the Minister shed light on factors such as well-trained educational cadres, electronic platforms, communication networks, and digital sources, that have led to capable learning for students with modern technology.

The Minister further stressed on Qatar's unrelenting need for action to put education as a priority, under the leadership of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, that have taken the center stage globally, most notably the adoption of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly of the draft submitted by Qatar to adopt the International Day to Protect Education from Attack in 2019.

In the interview with Qatar News Agency in New York, H.E Al Nuaimi also focused on the unanimously passed General Assembly resolution on the right to education in emergencies, a resolution submitted in 2010 by Qatar with the support of H H the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, and H H Sheikha Moza bint Nasser.

Stressing on the e-learning strategy goals to further equip children and help them develop their digital skills, H.E also acknowledged the importance of these for preparing the youth for the future. The Minister also applauded the State's determination and efforts to achieve the sustainable development goals, including the fourth goal of reimagining the future of education.

Qatar is leading the role internationally as well through foreign development assistance projects in the sectors of education, health, and economic empowerment through partnerships with international organizations. The State joined Unesco Associated Schools Network ASPnet in 1983 and today, Qatari educational institutes that have joined the network exceed 100 schools, comprising the three educational cycles (primary, preparatory and secondary).
