Qatar Museums Announces November Activities Programme

Qatar Museums announced that its programme of activities for November includes a diverse selection of creative workshops, interactive educational experiences and sports activities. The programme coincides with Qatar Creates Week and Qatar Museums’ Fall–Winter 2026–2027 exhibition season.

The activities cover art, Arabic calligraphy, modern art, literature, cinema, fashion, jewellery design, architecture, cultural traditions and sport, with sessions for children, young people and adults.

Highlights include Arabic calligraphy workshops at the Museum of Islamic Art and drawing and painting sessions inspired by the exhibition “What Lingers in the Artist Mind: Experiments and Legacies of the Baghdad Modern Art Group” at Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art. The programme also features jewellery-making, fashion and architecture workshops at M7 alongside the “Around the World in Jewellery” exhibition, as well as beach football activities presented by 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum in celebration of the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2026™.

The Museum of Islamic Art will offer outdoor drawing sessions, creative workshops, storytelling events, a book club and a film club, catering to the interests of children and adults.

“Outdoor Sketching for Adults” will allow participants to practise depicting the architecture of the Museum of Islamic Art and its surrounding landscape using pencils and watercolours. During Story Time at MIA Library, children will discover the book “Journey Through Islamic Art,” an illustrated story about a young girl who embarks on an adventure through decorated mosques, palaces and gardens.

The museum’s programme will also celebrate the conclusion of Planet Kids Club and the International Day of Islamic Art. It includes a special storytelling session for children celebrating Islamic art and cultural heritage.

The Majlis Book Club at the Museum of Islamic Art Library will discuss the novel “Samarkand,” which explores the life of Persian poet Omar Khayyam and the journey of a manuscript across the centuries. The session will allow participants to exchange views on poetry, knowledge, history and cultural heritage.

The Majlis Film Club at the museum library invited cinema enthusiasts to explore culture and history through film. A screening of “Lawrence of Arabia” will provide an opportunity to engage with historical narratives and discuss the relationship between cinema and cultural representation.

The Museum of Islamic Art programme also includes “Ruq’ah Calligraphy (Advanced),” introducing participants to Ruq’ah, regarded as the last classical script invented at the Ottoman court. Participants may also attend “Creative Work by Arabic Calligraphy,” experience different calligraphy techniques and explore decorative compositions on glossy paper.

Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art invited visitors to discover modern and contemporary art through drawing, painting, storytelling and movement, alongside a varied selection of creative workshops and activities. Several activities are inspired by “What Lingers in the Artist Mind: Experiments and Legacies of the Baghdad Modern Art Group,” allowing audiences to engage with Iraqi artistic traditions.

Mathaf will organise “Art Lessons with artist Ismail Azzam,” enabling participants aged 18 and above to develop portrait-drawing techniques using pencil, charcoal and colour. “Realms of Rhythm,” also for adults aged 18 and above, will explore connections between movement, sound and visual art.

Mathaf will also present “Drawtastic” for adults aged 18 and above, introducing drawing and painting through direct observation with a live model and reflecting the experiences of Iraqi modernist artists. The interactive workshop “نموذج الرسم الحركي مع الحداثة العراقية” will invite participants to draw inspiration from works by the Iraqi artists featured in “What Lingers in the Artist Mind: Experiments and Legacies of the Baghdad Modern Art Group.”

Mathaf will additionally organise a comic-story writing workshop about the Baghdad exhibition for children and young people aged nine to 17, accompanied by a guided tour of the exhibition. During the “ما وراء الواقع” workshop, adults aged 18 and above will learn about the artistic career and surrealist approach of Iraqi physician and artist الدكتور علاء بشير.

Mathaf will also offer the “وقت الحكاية: طائرة ياسين الورقية” workshop to mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. Children aged six to 14 will discover the story “طائرة ياسين الورقية,” which explores hope, belonging and the bonds connecting children with their homeland and memories.

As part of Qatar Museums’ November programme, 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum will bring football to West Bay Beach through a series of interactive beach activities celebrating the FIFA U-17 World Cup Qatar 2026™.

The museum invited visitors to participate in weekly football activities, including beach football matches, penalty kicks, dribbling relay races, crossbar challenges and mini-tournaments. The programme also includes passing challenges, “King of the Ring” competitions and freestyle football demonstrations.

M7 will continue its creative programme throughout November with workshops exploring jewellery design, fashion, architecture and cultural traditions. Connected to the “Around the World in Jewellery” exhibition, the workshops provide practical experiences for children and adults and opportunities for aspiring designers to develop their skills.

Among the workshops is “هدايا البحر,” where children aged nine to 13 will discover valuable treasures from the sea and their cultural significance before making a bracelet using shells, beads and other decorative materials. In “حُلي الجسد,” children in the same age group will learn how jewellery and adornment express identity and cultural traditions.

The workshops also include “اكتشف عالم العمار,” introducing young participants to architectural design through drawing exercises and creative challenges. They will explore construction and spatial-thinking concepts before developing designs for their own small house or studio.

M7 will also present “العادات والمراسم,” in which children aged nine to 13 will design traditional clothing and ornaments to express cultural customs, traditions and ceremonies. During “الكون: مجرّة من الحُليّ,” participants will explore the universe as inspiration for jewellery design, learn about gemstones whose colours, textures and natural characteristics evoke planets, stars and galaxies, and transform them into a miniature jewellery collection of their own design.

Activities organised by the Qatar Museums Archaeology Department during November will include events exploring Qatar’s archaeological and maritime heritage through creative workshops, community initiatives to clean heritage sites and experiences introducing participants to underwater heritage.

These include “خرز من الورق,” inspired by the “Atharna” exhibition and inviting children to discover what archaeological beads reveal about creativity, identity and life in Qatar during prehistoric times.

Participants in “Dive into Al Zubarah’s Past” will learn about the maritime history of Al Zubarah, Qatar’s first archaeological site to be inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The programme explores underwater cultural heritage, archaeological documentation techniques and responsible diving practices while highlighting the importance of protecting Qatar’s marine environment and cultural heritage. It is presented through cooperation between the Qatar Museums Archaeology Department, the UNESCO Doha Office, Alghais Diving Center and Seashore Group.
