Qatar Museums will begin hosting the two-month exhibition "Erdem: A Certain Time", which showcases the work of British-Turkish designer Erdem Muralioglu, one of the world's most acclaimed names in the fashion world.
Coinciding with the 20th anniversary of Dar Erdem's founding, the exhibition will be held at M7, the Qatar Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in the Fields of Fashion, Design and Technology, where the exhibition traces the evolution of its creative vision and the sophisticated visual language that characterizes the Maison's work today.
Titled 'Erdem: A Certain Time', the exhibition will be held from 27 October to 26 December 2026, with an art assessment by Olivier Gabi, design by B. Joseph Studio, and installation by Robin Brown that provides an immersive experience for visitors.
The exhibition brings together more than 150 pieces from Dar Erdem and reveals the ability of fashion to tell cultural stories, through five thematic themes: handicrafts, attributes, objects of familiarity, inspiration, and imagined dialogue.
In addition to the Maison's creations, the exhibition also features selected works from the Museum of Islamic Art, including paintings, sculptures and decorative art pieces, with the aim of tracing the visual vocabulary and cultural narratives shared by fashion and decorative arts, and illuminating the dialogue that Erdem Muralioglu's designs have in common with the vast world of art and culture.
Erdem Muralioglu, the Maison's creative director and founder, said: "I have always been fascinated by the ability of clothing to retain a trace of a person, a place or a moment in time, and I am honoured to share this reflection of the past two decades with a wider audience."
Maha Al Sulaiti, Director of M7, said: "Our mission at M7 is to stimulate creative exploration and deepen the public's appreciation of design. This exhibition gives the public an exceptional opportunity to discover the creative thinking behind a world-renowned fashion house and inspires the emerging generation of designers to learn about ways that shape a distinct creative identity over time."
Olivier Gabi, director of art at the Louvre, said: "Over the past 20 years, Erdem Muralioglu has not only forged a special language for fashion, he has built a world that can be imagined, where history remains re-readable, and beauty holds meanings beyond its appearance."
The exhibition is part of the Qatar-Canada and Mexico Year of Culture 2026 and draws on new research from Qatar Museums' collections, highlighting the long-term impact of the Cultural Years initiative and the ability of creative practices to build a strong cultural understanding that transcends borders.
