The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) has launched the new eUDST platform, which offers online courses, programmes and micro-credentials designed to support professional development and skills growth.
The platform gives users access to self-paced online learning opportunities from anywhere, guided by selected UDST faculty members and online learning specialists. It also extends the university’s applied learning approach into the digital learning environment by connecting knowledge with practical and applied skills.
Dr. Salem Al-Naemi, President of UDST, said what distinguishes eUDST is not simply that it is an online platform, but that it is an applied platform. Applied learning is not a feature the university added to the platform, he said, but the core of its identity.
He explained that every course was designed around a single question: what will the learner be able to apply tomorrow that they could not apply yesterday? He said this is the standard to which the university is committed and that every user deserves.
For her part, Dr. Hiba Sabri, Academic Manager of the Applied and Experiential Learning Department at UDST, said the university’s approach to developing eUDST was based on its commitment to creating new opportunities that enable professionals to acquire skills required by the labour market, respond to the changing needs of industry sectors and advance their careers.
She added that by extending learning beyond the boundaries of traditional classrooms, the university is working to make professional development more accessible and support lifelong learning across different sectors.
The new platform provides a range of courses and learning pathways in fields and experiences including education, health, business, engineering, professional skills and other areas. Developed in Qatar, the offerings are designed to keep pace with the country’s changing learning, skills development and workforce needs.
The platform targets professionals across different sectors, UDST alumni and current students by providing flexible learning opportunities that meet their varied academic and professional needs. Its launch represents a new step by the university to expand flexible applied learning opportunities, develop a platform capable of serving individuals and institutions across Qatar and support the continued development of the country’s workforce.
