Qatar University is fully prepared to welcome students for the Fall 2026 semester, with more than 30,000 students currently enrolled and the number expected to increase as admission and registration are completed.
Dr. Mohammed Diab, Vice President for Student Affairs at Qatar University, said the university, its colleges and its administrative and support units are ready for the start of the new academic year.
He said student success and empowerment remain among the university's main priorities, supported by academic, psychological and social services including academic advising, student counselling, learning support and career development programmes.
Preparations for the semester have included equipping classrooms, laboratories and other facilities with the latest technologies, finalising class schedules and ensuring that teaching and learning spaces are ready.
The university is placing particular emphasis on helping new students adjust to university life through "Hayyakum - Fall 2026", an orientation event introducing them to academic and administrative services, university regulations and available resources.
The event brings together university support and service units and includes meetings with academic advisers, workshops on regulations and policies, digital platforms, academic success strategies and adapting to university life, alongside campus tours and interactive activities.
Qatar University also organises an Open Day for students from public and private schools and their parents, giving prospective students an opportunity to explore academic programmes, majors and student services and meet representatives from different colleges and university units.
Dr. Diab said the university continues to update its academic programmes in line with the evolving needs of Qatar's labour market and national development priorities.
Over the past year and during the current academic year, QU has revised curricula and introduced specialised courses in emerging areas including artificial intelligence and the creative industries.
The Student Affairs sector also organises career fairs, training programmes and courses designed to help students understand the Qatari labour market and develop the skills needed to succeed professionally.
Dr. Diab said the university's Student Affairs Building serves as a central hub for student services, bringing together admissions and registration, the Integrated Services Center, academic advising, psychological support and career development.
The building also includes facilities for student, recreational, sports and cultural activities, as well as programmes offering financial assistance and textbooks, student leadership opportunities and community service initiatives.
Qatar University's Student Housing and Residential Life Department also provides accommodation and support for international students and others living on campus, including safety and security services and social activities.
On-campus housing gives students convenient access to classrooms, laboratories, libraries, sports facilities and food and dining outlets.
Dr. Diab urged students to complete their registration, review their class schedules and lecture locations before the semester begins, attend classes regularly and participate actively in university activities.
