Qatar and Kuwait have enjoyed strong, longstanding bilateral ties since decades. The Qatar-Kuwait bond has been cemented through several cooperative projects and collaborations over the years.

The passing of the former Kuwaiti Amir was met with great sorrow in Qatar, reflecting in a three-day mourning period marked across the country.

As Qatar and Kuwait continue to build on their mutual friendship and strategic relations, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday sent a written message to the new Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah.

His Excellency Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani delivered the message to the Kuwaiti Amir. 

The message related to bilateral relations and ways to further strengthen and develop them, Qatar News Agency reported. 

During the meeting between the two officials, HE Qatar's FM passed on HH the Amir's greetings to the Kuwaiti Amir, wishing him good health and happiness and further progress and prosperity for the Kuwaiti people.

The Amir of Kuwait entrusted HE Sheikh Mohamed with his greetings to HH the Amir. He too wished him good health and happiness and more development and growth for the Qatari people.

During his visit to Kuwait, HE Sheikh Mohamed also met with the Kuwaiti Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The discussions between the two officials focused on bilateral ties and means to expand them through further cooperation. They also spoke about issues of mutual interest.

Additionally, as part of his visit, HE Qatar's FM also met with his Kuwaiti counterpart, the Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. Their talks were centered on consolidating bilateral ties in addition to issues of common concern.

HE Sheikh Mohamed also held official talks with Kuwaiti Prime Minister during his visit.
