Registration Opens for Milestone 15th Doha Marathon by Ooredoo

Doha, Qatar - 29 June 2026

Ooredoo, Qatar’s leading telecommunications provider, has officially opened registration for the 15th edition of the Doha Marathon by Ooredoo, set to be the biggest yet, with an expected 25,000 runners of all ages and abilities, on Friday, 15 January 2027, along Doha’s Corniche.

The 2027 edition marks a landmark moment in the journey of the Doha Marathon by Ooredoo, celebrating 15 years of this leading community sporting event. The event will feature a new 42 KM marathon route, taking runners past some of Doha’s most iconic landmarks, including the Sheraton Hotel Park, The Amiri Diwan, Souq Waqif, and Doha Port.

The 15th edition will also introduce a range of new enhancements designed to enhance the race-day experience for both participants and spectators alike, including the launch of two new race categories: the Family Run (approximately 1 KM) and the 42 KM Relay Race.

The Family Run allows children aged 4 to 10 to participate alongside a parent or guardian, giving families the opportunity to enjoy the race experience together, while the Relay Race enables teams of three or four runners to work together to complete the 42 KM (full marathon) distance, with each participant covering a designated leg of the course.

In addition, a new Arab Category has been introduced for the 42 KM (full marathon) distance. Created to celebrate and incentivise elite talent from across the Arab world, the category is open to participants holding a valid passport from any Arab country. Runners competing in the Arab Category will also remain eligible for the Open Category (overall) prizes, allowing them to compete for both overall honours and dedicated Arab Category awards.

The upcoming edition will also feature an expanded and enhanced Marathon Village, with additional facilities, entertainment, interactive activations, and services for runners and spectators alike. The 2027 edition will feature five race categories: the Full Marathon (42 KM), Relay Race (42 KM), Half Marathon (21 KM), 10 KM, 5 KM, and the Family Run, which covers a distance of approximately 1 KM.

Commenting, Sabah Rabiah Al Kuwari, Vice Chairman of the Doha Marathon by Ooredoo Organising Committee and Senior Director Marketing Communications at Ooredoo Qatar, said,

“The 15th edition of the Doha Marathon by Ooredoo marks an important milestone in the journey of an event that has become an established part of Qatar’s sporting and community landscape. Over the past 15 years, the marathon has brought together thousands of participants of all ages and backgrounds around the values of health, challenges, and sportsmanship. This has played a significant role in Ooredoo receiving the Rawda Award for Excellence in Social Work. With the exciting new additions and enhancements introduced this year, we look forward to delivering our biggest and most distinguished edition yet, while supporting Qatar’s bid to host the 2036 Olympic Games and advancing the nation’s Olympic aspirations.”

Early bird discounts are available across all race categories, while participants who register four or more people in a single booking will receive an additional 25% discount.

Ooredoo invites runners of all ages and abilities to register today and join 25,000 participants in celebrating 15 years of achievement at the biggest edition of the Doha Marathon by Ooredoo to date.
