Second Autonomous e-Mobility Forum Concludes in Doha

The second Autonomous e-Mobility Forum concluded its two-day conference programme in Doha after bringing together officials, experts and industry leaders to discuss developments shaping the future of smart and sustainable transport.

Hosted by the Ministry of Transport at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) and organised by Just us & Otto Marketing Services, the forum explored developments across autonomous and electric mobility, including the future of autonomous public transport and the expansion of self-driving vehicle deployment from controlled environments to city streets.

Discussions also examined electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, the electrification of maritime transport, autonomous vessels, green ports, cybersecurity, data privacy, ultra-fast battery charging and international policy and regulatory frameworks.

Technical workshops addressed the integration of electric vehicle charging systems with smart grids, with participation from Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA), as well as AI-powered intelligent traffic systems and case studies on autonomous mobility deployment in Qatar and internationally.

Qatar University and the University of Doha for Science and Technology were among the academic and research institutions involved in discussions examining mobility technologies and their practical implementation.

The programme also featured interactive discussions on the safety and ethical considerations surrounding self-driving vehicles, experiences of electric vehicle ownership in Qatar and future careers in the autonomous mobility sector, including ways to train technicians and engineers and address emerging skills requirements.

The Ministry of Transport's official schedule identified September 7 and 8 as the forum's main conference days, followed by a dedicated ecosystem tour on September 9.
