Qatar to face Saudi Arabia in friendly match on December 27

Qatar will face Saudi Arabia in an international friendly in Al Khobar on December 27, 2026, as both national teams continue preparations ahead of their upcoming continental commitments.

The Qatar Football Association has announced the fixture, confirming the date and Al Khobar as the host city. A kick-off time has not yet been announced.

Local reports indicate that the match is expected to be played at the new Aramco Stadium in Al Khobar and form part of the stadium's official opening celebrations.

Qatar and Saudi Arabia meet again

The friendly will bring the two Gulf rivals together less than three months after their meeting in the semi-finals of Gulf Cup 27.

Qatar and Saudi Arabia played out a goalless draw in Jeddah on October 3, before Saudi Arabia advanced to the final with a 3-2 victory in the penalty shootout.

The December fixture will give both teams another opportunity to test their squads ahead of the AFC Asian Cup 2027, which will be hosted by Saudi Arabia from January 7.

For Qatar, the friendly forms part of preparations as Al Annabi look ahead to their continental title defence. Saudi Arabia will also use the fixture as part of its build-up to the tournament on home soil.
