Qatar and Turkey have enjoyed solid bilateral ties for decades. The two nations have been committed to strengthening ties in recent years, particularly since Turkey's swift support to Qatar in the early days of the Gulf crisis.

According to the Adviser to the Turkish President, Qatar is Turkey's strongest ally and the Qatari-Turkish relations are an exemplary Islamic example.

Qatar and Turkey have joined hands under several agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in fields, including trade, energy affairs, education, healthcare, tourism, and projects related to the hosting of World Cup 2022.

With a focus on further enhancing ties, the leadership and top officials of the two countries maintain strong, friendly relations.

Yesterday, His Excellency Sheikh Thani bin Hamad Al Thani joined the official opening ceremony of Ibn Haldun University (IHU) in Istanbul.

He was commissioned by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, in response to an invitation from the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

HE Sheikh Thani was presented with the university administration 'Al-Fateh Key' at the ceremony. This was in acknowledgement of Qatar's efforts to support education across the region and globally.

HE Sheikh Thani and President Erdogan also witnessed the signing of a pact between Qatar University and Ibn Haldun University. The agreement focused on granting a joint PhD in several academic programs that the two universities offer.

A number of dignitaries, including ministers and top officials, as well as members of the university staff took part in the ceremony yesterday.
