32 Killed in Plane Crash in Southwestern Nigeria

Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu confirmed on Monday that 32 people aboard a Nigerian Air Force aircraft were killed when it crashed in the country's southwest.

A statement issued by the president's office said he expressed condolences to the families of the 25 passengers and seven crew members who were aboard the aircraft.

Earlier, Nigeria's Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development Festus Keyamo said a military aircraft carrying 25 passengers and seven crew members had crashed in the country's southwest after losing contact with the air traffic control tower while en route to Lagos.

Keyamo said the aircraft crashed near the naval base in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State. Its wreckage had been located, while search and rescue operations were continuing.
