As Qatar continues to take measures to protect its citizens and residents against COVID-19, the national vaccination drive against the virus has been picking up speed with 1,248,229 vaccine doses administered so far.
Over the last couple of weeks, the country has established dedicated facilities to ensure its citizens and residents can take the COVID-19 vaccine safely and efficiently.
Following the launch of a temporary vaccination center at Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC) in February, a drive-through vaccination facility in Lusail, a second drive-through vaccination center in Al Wakra, the country saw the opening of a new vaccination center in the Industrial Area, last week.
With the availability of these venues in addition to all 27 PHCC health centers, a large number of eligible citizens and residents are able to get vaccinated against the virus, under a smooth process.
In a weekly update, Qatar's Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) highlighted that 35.5 percent of Qatar's total population (16 years and above) has received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
In the last seven days, as many as 168,453 doses of the vaccine were given to citizens and residents of Qatar eligible to receive the vaccine.

Since the start of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Program, a total of 1,248,229 vaccine doses have been given to those eligible to receive the vaccine in Qatar, MoPH revealed.
It further stated that now one in three adults in the country has received at least one dose of the vaccine.
With the Ministry urging the elderly to get vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus, it has been recorded that 78.4 percent of people above 80 years, 80.1 percent of people over 70 years and 82.8 percent of people above 60 have received at least one shot of the vaccine, as of April 18.
To enable a wider section of Qatar's population to be vaccinated and become protected against COVID-19, the Ministry also lowered the eligibility threshold to 35 years of age, yesterday.
