Head of Vaccination at the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) Dr. Soha Al Bayat spoke to Qatar TV earlier yesterday regarding the developments of the COVID-19 pandemic in Qatar.
Dr. Al Bayat explained that the cooperation of citizens and residents, and the use of the approved COVID-19 vaccines in Qatar have enabled the country to attain low infection rates.
Moreover, she stressed the importance of taking the vaccine as soon as possible and urges individuals who have yet to receive the vaccine to do so.
The Ministry had recently announced that people who are eligible for the vaccine can now schedule an appointment with the Primary Health Care Corporation’s (PHCC) new mobile app, Nar’aakom.
According to Dr. Al Bayat, 80 percent of the population in Qatar will be required to take the vaccine to reduce the infection rates even further. She pointed out the country expects to mark this milestone before the end of 2021.
Furthermore, Dr. Al Bayat also highlighted that the drive-through COVID-19 vaccination centers in Lusail and Al Wakra have succeeded in meeting the goals of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Program.
The main goal of these temporary vaccination centers was to boost the number of COVID-19 vaccines being provided to the public, she noted.
She also stated that the percentage of vaccinations will not decrease as the new Qatar Vaccination Center for Business and Industry Sector significantly boosts the capacity of the vaccination program.
