HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani and Iraqi Prime Minister Adil Abdul Mahdi on Wednesday (May 29) reviewed bilateral relations and the means to enhance them, particularly in economy, commerce, energy, culture, education, and scientific research fields.

During official talks at the Amiri Diwan, the two discussed the latest developments in the region as well as international arena.

The Amir and the Iraqi PM then witnessed the signing of the second executive programme for a Memorandum of Understanding for cultural and scientific cooperation between the governments of Qatar and Iraq in the field of higher education and scientific research for the academic years 2019-20, 2020-21, and 2021-22.

They also witnessed the signing of the third executive programme for a MoU for cultural and scientific cooperation between the governments of Qatar and Iraq in the field of education for academic years 2019-20, 2020-21, and 2021-22.

The session was attended by Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al Thani and a number of ministers.

From the Iraqi side, it was attended by members of the official delegation accompanying the PM.
Later, the Amir hosted an iftar banquet in honour of the Iraqi PM and the accompanying delegation.

Earlier upon arrival at the Amiri Diwan, the Iraqi PM was accorded an official reception.
