The Arab Parliament has strongly condemned the targeting of the Qatari tanker Al Rekayyat while it was passing near the Strait of Hormuz, describing the incident as a clear violation of international law.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Speaker of the Arab Parliament Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi said the incident posed a direct threat to the safety of maritime navigation and global energy supplies.

Al Yamahi condemned Iranian practices that threaten security and stability in the region, as well as the safety of international navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, which he described as a vital artery for the global economy.

He called for an immediate halt to violations that endanger the security of international waterways, stressing the need to protect maritime routes and prevent further escalation.

The Speaker also reaffirmed the Arab Parliament’s categorical rejection of any attacks targeting Arab countries or their property in any form.

He reiterated the importance of respecting the principles of good neighbourliness and international charters to ensure freedom of navigation and safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz and other strategic waterways.

Al Yamahi also warned against any escalation that could harm regional and international stability or threaten global energy security.
