Qatar's women's volleyball team concluded their campaign in the group stage of the 20th Asian Games "Aichi-Nagoya 2026" with a 3-0 defeat to Hong Kong on Thursday, in the third and final round of Group D.
Hong Kong secured victory in all three sets, winning 25-9, 25-8 and 25-12 in a match that lasted 58 minutes. The result gave Hong Kong their first win of the group stage, while Qatar finished fourth and bottom of the group without a point after suffering three consecutive defeats.
In the other Group D match, South Korea defeated Vietnam 3-1 to strengthen their position at the top of the standings with six points. Vietnam also finished on six points in second place, followed by Hong Kong in third with three points, while Qatar ended the group stage in fourth place without points.
As a result, South Korea and Vietnam advanced to the quarter-finals, while Qatar and Hong Kong will compete in placement matches for the remainder of the tournament.
Qatar had opened their Asian Games campaign with a 3-0 loss to Vietnam before suffering another straight-sets loss to South Korea in the second round. (QNA)
