Doha, September 17 (QNA) - The Qatar Padel Federation and AlRayan Bank announced the signing of a partnership agreement under which the bank will become a gold sponsor of the 2026 and 2028 editions of the Padel World Cup, both hosted by Doha. The agreement comes as part of national companies' support for international sporting tournaments hosted by Qatar.
The announcement was made during a press conference held today in the presence of Tareq Zainal, Secretary-General of the Qatar Padel Federation, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Thani, General Manager of Corporate and Institutional Banking at AlRayan Bank.
Doha will host the 2026 Padel World Cup from November 2 to 7 at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex, with leading men's and women's national teams from around the world taking part. The tournament will return to Doha in 2028.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al Thani said Qatar has become a prominent destination on the global sports map, adding that AlRayan Bank believes its role goes beyond providing banking services to include actively supporting initiatives and events that have a positive impact on society, encourage sport and healthy lifestyles, and support Qatar's ambition to remain a global destination for sport and excellence.
“We are proud of our partnership in this global event and look forward to witnessing another exceptional tournament in Doha,” he added.
Tareq Zainal said: “We are proud to renew our cooperation with AlRayan Bank. This is not the first partnership between us, and during its previous sponsorship of the Qatar ExxonMobil Open tennis tournament, we saw a genuine commitment to supporting sport and its role in social development. Today, we are pleased to extend this cooperation to the Padel World Cup, with AlRayan Bank joining as a gold sponsor of the two editions of the tournament in Doha.”
He added: “Having a leading national institution such as AlRayan Bank alongside us at an event of this scale is an important addition to the tournament and reflects the integration of efforts between sports institutions and the private sector in supporting Qatar's hosting of the world's biggest events.”
The partnership with AlRayan Bank forms part of the Qatar Padel Federation's efforts to strengthen cooperation with leading national institutions and involve them in hosting and organising major international tournaments, contributing to Qatar's standing as a prominent destination for international sport.
This is not the first cooperation between the federation and AlRayan Bank. The bank has previously played a prominent role in supporting sporting tournaments organised by the federation through its sponsorship of the men's Qatar ExxonMobil Open tennis tournament, reflecting its interest in supporting sport as an area that contributes to social development, strengthens community participation and promotes healthy lifestyles.
The renewed cooperation through the Padel World Cup builds on this partnership and reflects both sides' commitment to developing successful experiences and expanding cooperation to include one of the world's leading padel tournaments.
