After overcoming the peak stage of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak and being successful in flattening the curve, Qatar today enters Phase 2 of the gradual lifting of COVID-19 restrictions in the country as planned initially.

Qatar’s Cabinet held its regular meeting via video conferencing this afternoon.

His Excellency Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani chaired the meeting.

During the meeting, the cabinet decided to eliminate working hours limitation for private-sector employees present at their place of work, starting Thursday, July 2, 2020.

The following were the other decisions made:

- The cabinet approved a draft agreement on opening an office for the Global Green Growth Institute in the State of Qatar, signed between the government of the State of Qatar and the Global Green Growth Institute.

- The cabinet approved a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of healthcare between the government of the State of Qatar and the government of the Republic of El Salvador.

- The cabinet approved a draft protocol agreement between the government of the State of Qatar and the government of the People's Republic of China on avoiding tax duplicity and preventing income tax evasion.
