As the summer months fade away and before scattered to heavy rains become the norm, Qatar authorities have begun making preparations to prevent water logging in low-lying and vulnerable areas, The Peninsula reports.
Rains can be usually expected starting September-end and showers may last until mid-November.
“With the onset of winter the chances of rain increases in Qatar,” said a forecaster.

Meanwhile, Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported that the Department of Service Affairs at Doha Municipality and Drainage Networks Operation and Maintenance Deaprtment of Ashghal (Public Works Authority) held a coordination meeting yesterday in order to be prepared to prevent and tackle water-logging in areas during rains.
Civic and Ashghal officials come in for criticism from the public as sometimes they are taken aback with the sudden onset of rains.
The meeting was attended by Director of the Department of Public Services at Doha Municipality Nouf Al Maliki, Director of the Drainage Networks Operation and Maintenance Department at the Public Works Authority Ahmed Mohammed Sharif and a number of officials from the two departments.
Do you think Qatar will be able to avoid situations like this? Let's hope they do.
