Qatar International Court Concludes Training Programme on International Commercial Courts

The Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre concluded its 2026 Training Programme on International Commercial Courts. The programme included a series of lectures, panel discussions and practical workshops focused on litigation before international commercial courts, with particular emphasis on the procedures and practices of the Qatar International Court and the QFC Regulatory Tribunal.

Twenty-five qualified lawyers and practising legal professionals participated in the programme. They gained practical insight into the legal frameworks, regulations and procedural rules governing cases, as well as the process for filing appeals before the Court's Appellate Circuit.

The programme covered the key stages of litigation, including urgent applications and the commencement of proceedings, defences and counterclaims, jurisdictional disputes, disclosure and case preparation, hearings and evidence, judgments, orders and damages, costs and enforcement, appeals, and proceedings before the QFC Regulatory Tribunal.

By examining the progress of several ongoing cases and drawing lessons from discussions of previously heard cases, participants strengthened their understanding of court procedures, including oral advocacy, legal analysis and case strategy. The sessions also addressed a number of ethical and procedural situations encountered by lawyers appearing before international commercial courts.

Faisal Rashid Al-Sahouti, Chief Executive Officer of the Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre, said the training programme reflects the Court's commitment to supporting the professional development of legal practitioners and familiarising them with courtroom procedures. He said this helps shorten the duration of litigation and saves time and effort for both parties and judges, facilitating access to justice for all and increasing the efficiency of the services the Court provides to the public.

The Qatar International Court and Dispute Resolution Centre continues to offer professional-development and knowledge-building initiatives that help strengthen legal skills, establish international best practices and support the continuing development of Qatar's legal community.
