The Organising Committee for the Doha 2030 Asian Games launched the Games' flag tour, which includes visits to schools, universities and institutions across the country. The initiative follows the State of Qatar's official receipt of the Olympic Council of Asia flag during the closing ceremony of the 20th Asian Games Aichi–Nagoya 2026 in Japan, marking the beginning of a new phase of preparations for Doha to host the Asian Games in 2030.
Since its launch, the flag tour has visited Academyati, a Qatar Foundation school, Qatar Academy, the University of Doha for Science and Technology, and Qatar University. The initiative gave students an opportunity to see the flag up close and meet athletes from various sports, including champions and medal winners who inspire future generations.
Over the coming weeks, the flag will visit several schools, universities and institutions across Qatar. The initiative aims to involve different segments of society in preparations to host the Doha 2030 Asian Games, giving young people, athletes, families and organisations an opportunity to engage with the anticipated sporting event.
Dr Ahmed Abdullah Al Buainain, Chief Executive Officer of the Doha 2030 Asian Games Organising Committee, said: "The arrival of the Asian Games flag in the State of Qatar represents an important milestone on the road to Doha 2030."
He added that the committee was keen for the flag to reach individuals and every segment of society that would help shape the journey, particularly younger generations who would grow up amid the Games, participate in its events and become part of the experience, from schools and universities to institutions across the country.
Al Buainain continued: "The flag tour will create opportunities for communication and engagement and promote the values of sport, ambition and bringing peoples together as we continue preparing to welcome Asia to Doha in 2030."
The flag tour brings together Qatari athletes, students, teachers and representatives of institutions at interactive stops where they can exchange views and discuss their aspirations for the 2030 Asian Games.
The initiative also provides an opportunity to reflect on the meanings of sport and ambition, revisit the legacy of the Doha 2006 Asian Games and connect it with generations that will grow up amid preparations for Doha 2030 and experience the Games as a new milestone in the development of Qatari and Asian sport.
The flag tour forms part of preparations for the Doha 2030 Asian Games and embodies the spirit of the Games' slogan, "The Games We Live For", by bringing athletes, young people and all segments of society together through sport.
