Doha Defeats Bordeaux to Conclude FIBA 3x3 World Tour Macau Campaign

Doha concluded its qualifying campaign for the Main Draw of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Macau 2026, being held over two days in Macau, China, with an 18-16 victory over France’s Bordeaux in the second game of Qualifying Draw B.

Doha, represented by Mubarak Gama, Mohammed Hashem, Dejan Ganjic and Mahmoud Darwish, delivered a strong performance against the French team and secured the win. However, the result was not enough to continue in the tournament and qualify for the Main Draw after Doha lost its opening game 13-19 to Taipei WanBao of Chinese Taipei.

With one victory and one defeat, Doha finished second in Qualifying Draw B with two points, behind Taipei WanBao, which topped the group with four points after defeating Bordeaux 20-18 in the third and final group game.

Doha’s participation in the global event forms part of Qatar basketball’s presence in international 3x3 competitions, giving the players an opportunity to compete against international teams and gain further experience.

The FIBA 3x3 World Tour Macau 2026 features 16 teams from around the world competing for the title and a total prize purse of USD 185,000. The event is part of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour series, which attracts leading international teams.

Under the competition format, the Qualifying Draw consists of two groups of three teams, with the winner of each advancing to the 12-team Main Draw. Ten teams qualified directly, while the remaining two places are filled through the Qualifying Draw.

The tournament features several of the discipline’s leading teams, headed by world No. 1 Ub of Serbia and Amsterdam RABOBANK of the Netherlands, which enters the competition after winning the Bucharest 2026 stop. The field also includes Miami of the United States and Germany’s Baskets Bonn and Skyliners, with a high technical standard expected throughout the competition.
