The Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe weekend concludes today, Sunday, October 4, 2026, at ParisLongchamp with a major international race programme featuring 10 contests.
Seven of today’s races are at Group 1 level, with some of the world’s leading thoroughbreds, Purebred Arabians, jockeys and trainers competing in Paris.
The two biggest races on the card are the Qatar Arabian World Cup and the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.
€1 million Qatar Arabian World Cup
The Qatar Arabian World Cup is scheduled as the fourth race of the day and will be contested over 2,000 metres.
The Group 1 PA race carries total prize money of €1 million and is regarded as one of the world’s leading races for Purebred Arabian horses.
The race has developed into a major international meeting point for Arabian racing, attracting leading owners, trainers and horses from Europe, the Gulf and beyond.
The event also has particular significance for Qatar, with strong participation from Qatari owners and racing operations.
€5 million Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe
Attention then turns to the fifth race, the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, which will be contested over 2,400 metres.
A field of 16 horses has been confirmed for the 2026 edition, with the race carrying a total purse of €5 million.
The Arc is widely regarded as one of the world’s most prestigious thoroughbred races and is the richest horse race in Europe.
Defending champion Daryz is among this year’s runners, alongside horses from several major international racing nations.
Seven Group 1 races on today’s programme
The day begins with the Qatar Prix Marcel Boussac over 1,600 metres, followed by the Qatar Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère over 1,400 metres.
The third race is the Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp Longines, a 1,000-metre sprint.
Following the Qatar Arabian World Cup and the Arc, the Group 1 action continues with:
- Prix de l’Opéra Longines — 2,000m
- Qatar Prix de la Forêt — 1,400m
These races bring the number of Group 1 contests on Sunday’s programme to seven.
Qatar’s long-standing role in Arc weekend
The October 3–4 meeting is held at ParisLongchamp with the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club as Major Partner, continuing Qatar’s long-running association with one of international racing’s most prominent weekends.
The partnership also includes the Qatar Arabian World Cup, whose €1 million purse has helped establish it as a flagship race for Purebred Arabians.
Today’s races bring the two-day programme to a close, with the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe serving as the centrepiece of the international racing weekend.
