Ever since the illegal blockade of Qatar by its Gulf neighbours began, Turkey has taken a firm stance to stand with Qatar.
Not only has they supported Qatar by exporting food products to ensure its food safety, it has also been deploying troops to ensure stability and safety.
Yesterday, the Directorate of Moral Guidance at the Ministry of Defence announced the arrival of the fifth batch of Turkish troops in Qatar, according to Gulf Times.
The Peninsula noted that the fresh batch of soldiers will be joining their countrymen at the Tariq Bin Ziyad battalion camp. The new batch of soldiers is expected to boost joint military cooperation between Qatar and Turkey and activate the terms of defence agreements between the two countries.
“This defense cooperation between Doha and Ankara is part of their common defense vision to support anti terrorism efforts and maintain security and stability in the region,” Reuters reported a statement by Qatar’s Armed Forces as saying.
Turkish troops have been hosting joint exercises with their Qatari counterparts ever since they first arrived in the country on June 19.
Turkish capital Ankara had fast-tracked legislation last month for more soldiers to be deployed to Doha. The base in Qatar houses Turkish soldiers under an agreement signed in 2014.
