The first phase of the Lusail Tram opened commenced its operations on January 1, 2022. It featured the inauguration of six Orange Line stations including Legtaifiya (a combined Tram and Doha Metro station), Yacht Club, Esplanade, Marina, Marina Promenade, and Energy City South. The entire network is 28 km long including four different lines. There are a total of 25 stations on the network with 28 trams that cover the entire Lusail city. It even connects the Doha Metro between Legtaifiya and Lusail. 

The Lusail Tram will run at an interval of five minutes for seven days of the week. The timings are from 6.00 am to 11.00 pm for Saturday–Wednesday, while it is 2.00 pm to 11.59 pm on the weekends (Friday and Saturday).

The Minister of Transport His Excellency Jassim Said Ahmed Al Sulaiti and the Minister for Municipality His Excellency Dr Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Subaie inspected the operations of the first phase of the Lusail Tram. The latter is also the MD and CEO of Qatar Rail. 

Minister Al-Sulaiti said that the Lusail Tram operation is in sync with the Ministry’s plans for providing safe, reliable, and high-quality service for the community. The tram system employs some of the world’s latest technology systems and is aimed at being more eco-friendly, multimodal, and sustainable in the long run.
