The Qatar Calendar House (QCH) has announced that five planets in our solar system — Jupiter, Mars, Saturn, Mercury and Venus — will be making an appearance in Doha’s skies this month.

This happens when each planet will reach the nearest point to the moon in different times of the month, reported Gulf Times.

Dr. Bashir Marzouk, an astronomer with the QCH, said that Jupiter, the largest planet in the solar system, will reach the nearest point to the moon twice in April. The first time will be on April 3, Tuesday, and on April 30, Monday.

On both occasions, residents of the Arab region and Qatar will get a chance to see the Moon and Jupiter together all night from the time of the moonrise until before the sunrise in the next day, reported The Peninsula.

On April 7, Qatar's residents will have a good chance to see three luminaries — Moon, Saturn and Mars — all aligned over the sky, where Saturn and Mars will be very close to the Moon, reported Qatar Tribune.

The smallest planet Mercury will appear close to Moon on April 14; where it will be at a nearest angular distance of Moon ‘four degrees north of Moon's centre.’

Qatar's residents can witness Mercury with Moon over the eastern horizon of Doha sky, from the time of rise of Mercury at 4:18am till the sunrise time at 5:13am (Doha local time).

Finally, the brightest planet Venus will be at five degrees north of new crescent of ‘Sha’baan’ on April 17, where Qatar’s resident will have a chance to observe Venus and Moon together with naked eyes over the western horizon of Qatar sky.
