President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, HE Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, has been unanimously re-elected as President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) for a second consecutive term, following the close of nominations for the council's leadership.
The OCA announced that Sheikh Joaan received unanimous endorsements from its member National Olympic Committees, securing his election for the 2027–2035 term. The nomination period officially closed at 5:00 pm Kuwait time on June 30, 2026, with no other candidates submitting nominations for the presidency.
The endorsement reflects the broad confidence Sheikh Joaan enjoys among Asia's Olympic community and reinforces his leadership role in advancing sport across the continent.
Following the announcement, Sheikh Joaan expressed his appreciation to the National Olympic Committees for their trust and confidence in his leadership.
The Olympic Council of Asia comprises 45 National Olympic Committees and serves as the governing body responsible for promoting and developing Olympic sports across the continent. Under Sheikh Joaan's continued leadership, the OCA will guide the organisation through its next strategic term until 2035.
