Foreign Ministry Warns Against Normalising No War, No Peace Status in Region

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has warned against normalising the region's prolonged "no war, no peace" situation, saying continued instability is draining countries' economic and development resources and affecting the global economy and supply chains.

The remarks came during the Ministry's weekly media briefing, delivered by Director of Media and Communications Ibrahim bin Sultan Al Hashmi, who outlined Qatar's diplomatic and political efforts to help end the current political deadlock and create conditions for renewed dialogue.

Al Hashmi said Qatar continues to coordinate with regional and international partners to revive negotiations and promote political solutions, including ongoing cooperation with the People's Republic of China. He stressed that the success of mediation efforts ultimately depends on political will among the parties concerned.

On maritime security, Al Hashmi said the immediate and unconditional reopening of the Strait of Hormuz remains a top priority for Qatar and other countries in the region because of its importance to global trade, energy supplies and regional and international economies.

Responding to Iranian claims regarding strikes on Qatar, Al Hashmi said Qatar had submitted hundreds of official letters and communications to the UN Security Council and UN General Assembly documenting its account of the attacks, including impacts on civilian and economic facilities. Qatar maintains that these submissions form an official record of its position before the international community.

Al Hashmi said Qatar continues to favour dialogue, negotiations and de-escalation, arguing that the current phase requires diplomacy and joint action rather than an exchange of accusations.
