His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani expressed condolences to the people of Tunisia on the demise of the Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi.

One of the oldest world leaders, the Tunisian President passed away yesterday at the age of 92.
President Essebsi was hospitalized with severe illness for a week in late June but had returned to intensive care on Thursday, July 25.
Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Interior His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani also offered his condolences to the Tunisian people on the death of the Tunisian leader.

The late president was Tunisia’s first democratically elected leader who was a leading figure in the country since the Arab Spring uprising eight years ago.

A press statement by the Tunisian presidency stated, “On Thursday morning, the President of the Republic died at the military hospital in Tunis. The burial ceremony will be announced later.”

The Tunisian government has declared seven days of national
The prime minister declared seven days of mourning following the death of President Essebsi.
Tunisia’s foreign minister said a state funeral for Essebsi would be held on Saturday and the presidency urged Tunisians to unite and safeguard the nation’s present and future.
In a rushed ceremony hours after President Essebsi’s death on Thursday, head of the Tunisian parliament, Mohamed Ennaceur was sworn in as interim president.
Eighty-five-year-old Ennaceur will lead the country until the next presidential elections to be held on September 15, according to the Independent Electoral Commission.
The presidential vote was earlier scheduled for November 17.
Additionally, the parliamentary vote is set to take place on October 6.
