With a view to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between Qatar and France, the leaders of the two countries held official talks in Doha yesterday.

During an official talks session, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and French President Emmanuel Macron reviewed the friendly and cooperative ties between Qatar and France and looked at ways to develop them across different domains.

The session, which was held at the Amiri Diwan, also saw the two leaders exchange views on several regional and international issues of mutual interest, in particular the latest developments in the region.

Several of Their Excellencies the ministers as well as members of the official delegation accompanying the French President joined the session.

Later, in a tweet, HH the Amir said, "Relations between Qatar and France are witnessing a steady growth in various fields of cooperation, including the economy, defense and security, and the exchange of cultural and sports experiences. Today, I discussed with His Excellency the President @EmmanuelMacron prospects for strengthening our existing cooperation between our two friendly countries, and we also exchanged views on the most prominent issues in the region and the world."

Earlier, upon their arrival in Doha, President Macron and his accompanying delegation were received by His Excellency the Minister of Transport Jassim bin Saif al-Sulaiti, HE Qatari ambassador to France Sheikh Ali bin Jassim al-Thani and French ambassador to Qatar Jean-Baptiste Faivre.
