HH the Amir will be accompanied by an official delegation during his visit.
The Amir’s visit follows the devastating earthquakes that wreaked havoc in both Turkey and Syria on February 6, 2023. Qatar was one of the first countries to respond to the disaster with the Amir expressing his condolences to those affected by the earthquake during a phone call with the Turkish President and extending their full support to alleviate the crisis.
Since then Qatar has been at the forefront of rescue operations sending aid and specialized personnel to help with search and rescue.
Additionally, Qatar also launched the ‘Aoun Wa Sanad’ campaign for Turkey and Syria on Friday; a joint effort by Qatar Red Crescent Society, Qatar Charity, Qatar Authority for Charitable Activities, and Qatar Media Corporation. The campaign raised more than QAR 168 million in a single day with Qatar’s Amir HH Sheikh Tamim leading the campaign with a generous donation of QAR 50 million.
The campaign received a phenomenal response from both public and private entities including Qatar National Bank, the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (AWQAF), Ooredoo, Doha Bank, Gulf Exchange, Al Jazeera Medical Center, AlKhaleej Takaful Insurance, Estithmar Holding, Baldna and Hussain Al Fardan and Sons amongst others.
People who wish to donate to the cause, can do so here.
