Minister of State for Foreign Trade HE Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed held a series of meetings in Geneva with heads of several international organisations, with discussions focusing on strengthening cooperation in trade and investment.
The meetings also addressed a number of economic and trade issues of mutual interest, including areas linked to global trade, investment, development and innovation.
HE Dr. Al-Sayed met with HE Pedro Manuel Moreno, Acting Secretary-General and Deputy Secretary-General of UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD). The meeting discussed preparations for hosting the World Investment Forum in Doha from October 25 to 27, 2026.
The talks with UNCTAD also covered developments in the global economy and several topics related to trade, investment and development.
He also met with HE Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General of the World Trade Organization, where both sides reviewed the latest developments in international trade and the challenges facing the multilateral trading system.
The meeting also discussed the importance of strengthening trade flows and supporting ongoing reforms at the WTO. Both sides reviewed the strength and resilience of the economy under current conditions, as well as its ability to continue growing and further consolidate its position as a trusted trade and investment partner regionally and internationally.
In another meeting, HE Dr. Al-Sayed met with HE Daren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization. The two sides discussed ways to strengthen cooperation and exchanged views on a number of topics of mutual interest.
The Minister of State for Foreign Trade also participated in the high-level ministerial dialogue of the World Intellectual Property Organization.
In his remarks, he affirmed continued efforts to develop an integrated intellectual property ecosystem within the framework of Qatar National Vision 2030, in a way that strengthens foreign trade and the knowledge-based economy, while supporting innovation and international cooperation.
