The Ministry of Interior (MoI) has introduced a number of new features and will soon be adding to its award-winning application with the aim of improving its e-services.

In addition to a service for submitting request for change of name or other information through Metrash2, a facility for granting residency permits with birth certificates for infants is one of these aspects.

Moreover, the government has launched an e-wallet service for official documents such as ID and licenses. It is possible to use the facility for MoI services and to share documents via Whatsapp, e-mail, and SMS.

In addition, Metrash2 now has a new feature that allows enterprises to automatically renew resident permits for their staff without the assistance of public relations officers.

According to First Lieutenant Ali Ahmed al-Eidrous, Officer at Smart Devices Branch at the E-Services Section of the General Directorate of Information System of MoI, companies must open a Qatar National Bank account and link it to their Metrash2 accounts.

When resident permits are about to expire, companies are notified and the fee is debited from the bank account when they are renewed. Q Post will then deliver the renewed IDs to the company.

Al-Eidrous addressing an awareness seminar organized by the ministry on ‘E-Services of the Ministry of Interior’ on Sunday for company representatives, community leaders, and the general public.

He stated that in 2020, Metrash2 will have processed over 6 million transactions, representing a 100 percent increase in transaction volume.

Al-Eidrous went on to say that there are over 2 million Metrash2 users who use their smartphones and tablets to access a variety of services in a variety of languages.

The most popular services were residence renewal and traffic violation payment, with National Address services coming in third.

The MoI official stated that more features are being added to Metrash2 and that the program will attract more users with improved capabilities.
