The Ministry of Education and Higher Education is mourning the loss of a four-year-old student in a private kindergarten after she tragically passed away because she was left sleeping in a locked school bus.
While the other students came off the bus in the morning, the staff did not realize that Minsa Mariam Jacob was still asleep and the bus was parked in the open. The staff noticed the child when they returned for duty at 11:30 AM and rushed Jacob to the hospital, but were unable to save her.
Minsa, born to Abhilash Chacko and Sowmya Chako from the South Indian state of Kerala, passed away on her fourth birthday yesterday. The Ministry, in cooperation with the respective authorities, has launched an investigation into the incident. As the parents wait for the official report on the cause of death, they are hoping to take her body to their home country after following the procedures in the upcoming days.
