If you are someone who loves to eat dishes made out of grape vine leaves, then it is time you temporarily put a stop to the practice.

This is because Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health has warned against the consumption of grape leaves products until further notice, reported Gulf Times.

The Ministry said it conducted an assessment of its potential risk level, drawing samples from all varieties of grape leaves (fresh and processed) that are traded in the country.

After samples were taken from all brands, originating from different countries, and analysed in the laboratory, results showed that a large number of them contained pesticide residues at rates exceeding permissible limits, reported The Peninsula.

The ministry added that other samples were drawn and sent for analysis at one of the reference laboratories accredited outside Qatar.

The ministry said it will announce the trademarks and dates of the ‘infringing products’ upon receiving the results of the analysis from the external laboratory.
