As Qatar ramps up efforts to combat the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, its Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) today announced a set of mandatory precautionary guidelines that delivery companies in the country must adhere to.

“Ministry of Commerce and Industry compels companies processing various delivery orders to comply with a set of precautionary measures to preserve the safety of citizens and residents,” the Ministry said in a tweet.

The set of directions contains the following requirements which all delivery companies in Qatar have been asked to ensure:

1. The temperature of the delivery staff must be measured twice daily

2. Delivery staff must commit to health and safety standards, which includes wearing face masks and frequently sanitizing hands

3. Full name and temperature of the delivery person must be noted on each order

4. The means of transportation used to deliver the order must be sterilized

5. Orders must be placed in plastic bags, which are discarded before handing over the order to the consumer

The MoCI directions cooincide with the latest COVID-19 restrictions in Qatar that have gone into effect today.

According to a press conference held by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) on Wednesday, if everyone takes responsibility and acts wisely in the face of the second wave of COVID-19 over the next two to four weeks, Qatar may begin to see a decline in cases, and there may be a possibility of easing some of the restrictions.
