The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MoECC) were recently notified by environmentalists of the presence of large quantities of seabed waste in the Sealine area. The MoECC acted promptly and removed the debris from the waters.
The Ministry, on their social media handles, shared the images of the massive trash that has accumulated and been extracted from the sea.

Calling upon the community and general public, the Ministry advises the divers, beach-goers, and island surfers to refrain from bringing such kind of waste to the beach. The massive wastage extraction serves as a proof that it truly hampers the quality of marine life and poses a threat to the ecosystem. The debris accumulated at the bottom of the sea bed and is dangerous to the aquatic life, underwater flora and fauna, and distorts the general landscape of the ocean.
The cleaning operation was a part of the Ministry’s prompt response to complaints by environmentalists and the cleaning activities are expected to continue to ensure the safety of the marine environment.

The Ministry further strictly prohibits performing any marine activities, especially any activity relating to working on the coral reefs. All such activities always require the prior official approvals from the MoECC.
MoECC is always on the lookout to implement several environmental projects and activities to protect, diversify, and preserve the country’s resources. The entity also actively aims to reduce the effects of climate change in tandem with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
