On the occasion of the World Day against Trafficking in Persons, the Department of Human Rights at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) participated in a virtual symposium organised by the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking in cooperation with the United Nations Migration Mission in the State of Qatar.

The conference focused on Qatar's efforts to combat human trafficking, identified lessons gained and best practices, and discussed potential obstacles.

Dr. Turki bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Department of Human Rights, spoke about the national mechanism for combating human trafficking, the State of Qatar's strategy to combat human trafficking and forced labor, the state's international obligations in this area, and the role of the National Committee to Combat Human Trafficking.

Vice-Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee Dr. Mohammed Saif Al Kuwari, Chief of Mission of the UN International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Qatar Iman Ereiqat, Ambassador of Nepal to the State of Qatar H E Narad Bharadwaj, Charge d'Affaires at the US Embassy H E John Desrocher, and Head of ILO Project Office for the State of Qatar Max Tunon were among those who attended the symposium.
