Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) will launch the National Oral and Dental Health Campaign on Wednesday, September 1.

To be rolled out in coordination with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) and the Police Hospital at the Ministry of Interior, the one-month campaign seeks to increase public awareness on the importance of good oral and dental health.

The awareness program will also highlight the significance of communication between dental services and prevention sections at various health institutions and sectors in Qatar.

As part of the campaign, during its second week, virtual awareness lectures regarding oral and dental health will be presented to preparatory and secondary students in at least 18 public and private schools.

The third week of the campaign will see all primary schools publish educational materials on their websites related to oral and dental health.

The campaign’s last week will be dedicated to educating smokers and diabetics through clinics specialized in diabetes patients and smoking cessation.

All segments of the society, including children, adolescents, and adults, will be covered under the campaign, which will also stress the need to maintain a healthy diet.

Additionally, awareness-raising posters on oral and dental health will be regularly posted on social media and will also be seen on display screens at entrances and waiting areas of government and private hospitals.

Throughout September free medical consultations will be offered by dentists, who will answer public questions via MoPH’s Twitter account.
