Registration of the national address data has officially begun from today, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) has confirmed on its social media pages.

The Ministry has reminded the public including citizens, residents and other legal persons in the country, to register their national address within six months from today as per the National Address Law.

The National Address Law (Law No 24 of 2017) obligates all residents of Qatar (locals and expatriates) to register their data in a simple form.

The form will ask for the residential address, land phone number, mobile number, email, employer’s address for government and private sector employees, permanent address abroad, and any other information specified by the relevant authority.

For minor children, the guardians will be responsible to register their data and ensure its authenticity, the MoI had specified last year.

The last date to register this information is July 26, 2020, MOI stated.

"In the event that the registration of the national address is not done with the period indicated above, the violator shall bear all the legal consequences thereof,” the statement underlined.

The process of registering is fairly simple and can be done through the Metrash2 app or the Ministry’s website.

Individuals can also visit the MoI’s unified service centers to register the required information under the National Address Law.

Those who fail to register within the specified time or provide incorrect information may draw fines, according to an earlier statement by an MoI official.

The National Address Law comes under Qatar’s digitization efforts to strategically develop its e-government, among other objectives.
