It is a well known fact that Qatar enjoys one of the lowest crime rates anywhere in the world. New statistics show just how safe Qatar is compared to other parts of the globe.
The Ministry of Development, Planning and Statistics (MDPS) said Qatar ranks among the world’s lowest in terms of crime rate, reflecting the country's global security status, reported Gulf Times.
Qatar has the seventh-lowest crime rate globally according to the latest annual Global Crime Index by Numbeo, said Mohammed Al Muhannadi, Director of Population and Social Statistics Department at the MDPS.
In his presentation at the Crime Statistics Workshop, Al Muhannadi said Qatar’s high safety ranking is in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 that aims at creating a society of security, justice, and economic prosperity, reported The Peninsula.
Doha is also the city with the third lowest rate of crime anywhere in the world, according to the index.
The workshop was held with the aim of identifying sources of crime statistics, their importance, ways to improve them and identify indicators of sustainable development, according to Qatar Tribune.
Muhannadi pointed out that Qatar topped the list of the Middle East and North Africa in the Global Peace Index for the ninth year in a row, ranking 30th among the 163 countries included in the report of the London Institute for Economics and Peace.
