A number of Qatar charity organisations announced urgent aid for Syrians displaced in Aleppo, Syria, in light of the tragic human conditions in the city.
Qatar News Agency reported that as a first step, Qatar Charity will send 12 trucks carrying food stuff, baby food and warming materials to Aleppo, across the Turkish-Syrian border. It will be enough to feed at least 20 thousand people.
Qatar Charity said the convoy would act as part of the ‘Syria... cold and hunger’ campaign, aimed at assisting internally displaced Syrians and refugees in Turkey.
A team of volunteers will oversee the convoy and distribution of food baskets to hundreds of families.
Qatar Charity has urged people living in Qatar to donate more items to Syria’s displaced population.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Eid bin Mohammad Al Thani Charitable Foundation (Eid Charity) also announced emergency relief for displaced Syrians in Aleppo at a cost of QR1m.
The assistance will be given to displaced people in Jarablos, north suburbs of Aleppo and Idleb suburb.
Eid Charity said the aid would consist of shelter kits, food baskets, baby milk and other necessities for about 50 thousand people.
Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services said they planned to provide shelter and non-food items, like tents, blankets, and rain insulators, heaters, fuel, mattresses and clothing to the displaced population of Syria.
Later, the plan will be expanded to include canned food, food baskets, baby milk and medical supplies.
