Qatar's humanitarian efforts, amid the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, have been remarkable.

Upon the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the country has, until now, sent over 13 tonnes of relief aid including medical equipment and supplies to Iran as it fights the massive health crisis

Qatar has also expressed its willingness to support Italy in its battle against the dreaded virus that has severely affected the European country.

Last week, HH the Amir directed urgent financial assistance to Palestine, under Qatar's contribution to support global efforts to combat the outbreak of the emerging COVID-19.

The aid package that Qatar will give to Palestine over the next six months is worth $150 million.

In this regard, the Gaza Reconstruction Committee jointly with Qatar Fund for Development began sending the first shipment under the package to Palestinians in Gaza.

According to a press statement by Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), the financial support is provided to the different quarantines in Gaza.

The aim is to "provide food, basic electronic products, furniture, in addition to the fuel required to supply electricity to those centers, as part of the efforts to support Gaza's fight to contain the virus and Qatar's international efforts to contain the virus."

Qatar is cooperating with designated ministries and authorities, led by Gaza's Ministry of Social Development and the Ministry of Health, to continue dispatching the assistance.

Qatar's support toward Palestine in these critical times adds to its earlier humanitarian endeavors over the years, be it in the form of providing monetary aidrebuilding housesextending medical support, or advocating for the Palestinian cause at various international meetings.

Meanwhile, Qatar continues to intensify its measures to safeguard the health of its citizens and residents.

For any queries, or concerns related to COVID-19 in Qatar, the public can contact a 24/7 hotline set up by the Ministry. The hotline number is 16000 and is toll-free.
