Qatar has been doing quite a lot for the Palestinian cause.

Most recently, the country had been aiding the Palestinians by disbursing grants and funds to them to pay public servants.

Chairman of the National Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza Ambassador HE Mohamed Al Emadi said the remainder of a Qatari grant to Gaza people, worth around $150m, will be redirected to humanitarian projects in the Strip in co-operation with the United Nations, according to Gulf Times.

Al Emadi said the decision was taken after Hamas, led by Ismael Haniya, said they would not accept the Qatari grant under any conditions put by Israel. The new move from Qatar is expected to lift the pressure off all parties involved.

Al Emadi said the primary goal of the Qatari grant to Gaza is to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people, but there were other parties who were looking to use the humanitarian aid to steer internal elections and to make political gains, reported Qatar Tribune.

He stressed on the right of the Palestinian people to demonstrate and convey the message of their suffering to the world.

Al Emadi also touched upon Qatar’s efforts regarding Palestinian reconciliation, pointing out a recent meeting he held with the Palestinian Minister of Civil Affairs Hussein Al Sheikh.

The two leaders discussed some topics including the Rafah crossing and the Palestinian elections as well as the invitation to visit, made by Russia, for the Palestinian parties.

Al Emadi also said some Palestinian leaders had called for a meeting in Doha between the secretary generals of different Palestinian factions to discuss elections and to determine a clear vision for the future.

The Ambassador said Qatar was ready to host all Palestinian parties involved to discuss all topics.
