Qatar Foundation and Qatar National Bank (QNB) Group announced the signing of an agreement to rename one of Qatar’s most prominent sports venues to “QNB Education City Stadium”.

Under the agreement, the stadium, located in the heart of Education City, will bear its new name for five years. The signing ceremony took place at the stadium in the presence of Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, and Abdullah Mubarak Al Khalifa, Group CEO of QNB.

This partnership reflects a shared commitment to supporting the development of sports in Qatar and reinforcing its importance in achieving the country's national development goals. Since hosting matches for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, the stadium has evolved into a leading sporting destination for community engagement and sports initiatives dedicated to empowering women and girls, embodying the tournament's lasting legacy and enduring impact.

In this context, Alanoud Saeed Al-Misnad, Executive Director of Women and Girls Sports at Qatar Foundation, who signed the agreement on behalf of the Foundation, stated: “This agreement embodies the commitment of two Qatari national institutions to support women and girls in sports, expand the opportunities available to them to participate in it, achieve excellence, and benefit from it within environments specifically designed to meet their needs.”

She added: “This stadium is a model for this environment, as it reinforces its role as a center for women’s and girls’ sports and a platform for community interaction, thus confirming its status as a monument with a sustainable legacy that extends beyond hosting world championships and high-level sporting events.”

She concluded: “Today, we are proud that this landmark bears the name ‘QNB Education City Stadium,’ and that we are partnering with the QNB Group, a prestigious global institution whose mission is to contribute to the development of the country and serve its community. We look forward to what this agreement will bring to support the future of this exceptional stadium as a destination for sporting excellence, inclusivity, and inspiration.”

Fatima Abdullah Al Suwaidi, Head of Risk for the Group, stated: “QNB Group believes that real progress comes through entering into long-term partnerships that contribute to achieving sustainable value for societies and future generations.”

She added: “Our partnership with Qatar Foundation embodies a shared commitment to supporting education, empowering youth, and contributing to the advancement of national development, in line with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030. Education City Stadium has become a prominent symbol of opportunity, achievement, and community engagement. We are proud to support this outstanding national landmark, which continues to inspire and empower members of Qatari society and contribute to the development of the State of Qatar.” While the stadium continues to host national and international sporting events, it will also host community sports events and programs, including Paris Saint-Germain Academy programs and Qatar Foundation’s regularly held “Ladies’ Sports Night,” which empowers women and girls in Qatar to discover new sports, maintain physical activity, and adopt healthy lifestyles. The stadium also plays a pivotal role in hosting Qatar Foundation’s annual events to celebrate National Sports Day.
