Qatar has informed the UN Security Council and the UN Secretary-General of yet another violation of Qatari sovereignty by the United Arab Emirates.

Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the UN Sheikha Alia Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani, in a message to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and UN Security Council President Karel van Oosterom, said that a military transport aircraft — CN-35 — which belongs to the UAE, violated the Qatari airspace on March 4, according to Gulf Times.

Sheikha Alia’s message described the incident as a severe violation of international law. Highlighting the UAE’s continued violation of Qatari sovereignty, the message said it could escalate tension in the region, according to The Peninsula.

She said that such actions do not take into consideration security and stability and can have severe consequences on the security and stability of the region.

In the letter, Sheikha Alia also renewed Qatar’s call on the UN to take necessary measures to preserve international peace and security by putting an end to the UAE’s continued violations.

The message also said Qatar continues to exercise restraint in the face of such irresponsible and provocative actions, but at the same time condemns any violation of its sovereignty, reported Qatar Tribune.

It said Qatar maintains the right to respond to any violations, and the country will do whatever is necessary to protect its borders and national security in line with the international law.

On March 10, Qatar filed a complaint over the violation of its airspace by a UAE military transport aircraft carrier on January 14 and February 25.

It also complained about the airspace violation by a Bahraini military aircraft which overflew the exclusive economic zone of Qatar on February 28.

Earlier, Qatar also complained to the United Nations about airspace violations by the UAE aircraft in December 21 last year and January 3 this year.
