Doha – The Qatar Olympic Committee signed today a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mall of Qatar to strengthen joint cooperation in the field of sports, community events, championships, and initiatives.
The MoU was signed by Mr. Hamad bin Lahdan Al Mohannadi, Director of the Support Services Sector at the Qatar Olympic Committee, and Rony Mourani - CEO of Mall of Qatar.
The agreement aims to enhance cooperation in organizing and implementing sports and community events, championships, and initiatives of mutual interest, while supporting local and international sporting events organized by the Qatar Olympic Committee and its affiliated federations and sports committees.
Among the first initiatives included under this collaboration are the organization of Olympic Day 2026, a major Boxing Championship, and hosting of the eFIBA Finals 2026 and 2027 organized in collaboration with the Qatar Basketball Federation.
The MoU also aims to launch and implement joint community programs and initiatives designed to promote healthy lifestyles, encourage sports participation, and enhance community engagement across different age groups.
In addition, the agreement includes cooperation in media, marketing, and promotional activities related to joint events and projects, as well as the designation of hotels and facilities affiliated with or managed by Mall of Qatar as preferred accommodation and hosting options for sports delegations attending events and championships.
On this occasion, Mr. Hamad bin Lahdan Al Mohannadi, Director of the Support Services Sector at the Qatar Olympic Committee, said that the signing of this memorandum comes within the framework of the Committee’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with various entities in a manner that supports the development of the sports sector in the State of Qatar.
He explained that the agreement reflects the Committee’s commitment to expanding strategic partnerships and creating an integrated environment for hosting and organizing sporting events in accordance with the highest international standards.
He also stressed the importance of cooperation with public and private sector institutions, given their pivotal role in supporting the sports movement, promoting a culture of sports participation, and broadening community engagement.
Rony Mourani commented: “This Memorandum of Understanding represents a clear commitment from Mall of Qatar towards one of our core pillars: the promotion of a healthy and active lifestyle within the community. Through this partnership, we aim to further leverage Mall of Qatar as a dynamic platform for engaging the community through positive, meaningful, and constructive events, fully aligned with the vision and ambitions of the State of Qatar.”
He finally added: “At Mall of Qatar, our ambition has always gone beyond being a shopping destination. We aim to be a true community hub where entertainment, culture, sports, and social engagement come together. Strengthening our collaboration with key national institutions is central to this vision and to our continued efforts to elevate the destination’s role and impact.”
